Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal - Las Milpas

Take the Pan-American Highway from Oaxaca heading south, then follow the direction of San Dionisio Ocotepec. Pass the school crossroads, the road gently becomes a dirt road, climbing the mountainside. The hamlet of a few dozen people, Las Milpas, touches the sky at almost 1800 meters above sea level.
The palenque (distillery) is located below the family home of Anastasio Cruz Antonio. The latter and his three sons, Rigoberto, Abel and Sergio produce fabulous mezcal. Very balanced, this mezcal gives mineral notes balanced with tropical fruits and citrus fruits, rose, lavender, or even tarragon. Its finish is long and pleasantly drying.

Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal was created in 1998 by renowned artist Ron Cooper. Working today with 14 families in 14 different villages in Oaxaca and Puebla (Mexico), it is one of the most beautiful ranges of artisanal and ancestral mezcals.
