Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal - Chichicapa

Agave: Espadin
Producer: Faustino Garcia Vasquez
Village: San Baltazar Chichicapam

🍸 This 100% Espadin mezcal is produced in the traditional way. On the nose it offers notes of grilled corn and roasted agave. On the palate there are aromas of dried fruits and almonds with a slightly minty chocolate finish.

It was in the 90s that Ron first met Faustino. Ron had left with his car (the only one at the time) from Teotitlan del Valle (where the Del Maguey bodega is now located), to accompany women to buy wool, in the village of San Baltazar Chichicapam. Arriving in the early morning, he only dreamed of one thing: a good breakfast. Allowing himself to be guided, he finds himself in front of a group of men discovering an agave “horno”. One of them was Faustino. At the time he didn't even have his own still. It was therefore one of the first investments that Ron made, in addition to the 300 liters of mezcals that Faustino had agreed to produce.
Today, 28 years later, Faustino still produces for Del Maguey and his mezcal is probably one of the most iconic. His mezcals are very often smoked, with citrus notes and a very minty taste.
