Aozina comes from the name of the very first plot that Damien Petitfils cultivated. In Occitan, “Auzina” means “holm oak”, a species of endemic tree which is found in quantity on its terroirs. Damien is originally from Fenouillèdes and grew up in the vineyards, his father being a winegrower. Later he quickly took pleasure in working in the cellar, then participating in work for several winegrower friends. This plot remained in his family and it was thus that, after several years as a rope worker and tree pruner, Damien decided to return to his roots and return to working the land. He already appreciated natural wines and their production aligned with his values. It is important for him to cultivate his land as healthily as possible. The future of our children, the heritage that we will pass on to them and the land that we will leave them are among its main concerns. It was thus quite naturally that he decided to move towards the production of natural wine. Today he works 4 hectares composed of muscat, syrah and grenache, on soil mainly composed of schist in the communes of Latour-de-France, Maury and Estagel. His cellar is located in Planèzes, a small village made up of around a hundred souls, in the heart of his beloved Fenouillèdes, territory of the Pyrénées-Orientales in the Agly valley.
